In response to the recent Office of the Vice President for Research survey, we are updating the protocol form instructions and attaching relevant policies jointly to ensure consistency. Phase I updates are expected to be uploaded to the system on September 5, 2025, starting with the sections below. Once implemented, these changes will apply to newly submitted 3yr rewrites, new protocols, and applicable amendments.

Rodent Breeding Page: New instructions clarify the rodent strains listed in this section are only those bred in-house. Other rodent strains are to be listed in the Justification for Choice of Species using the new template.
Justification for Choice of Species & Template Requirement: All non-breeding rodent strains being used (e.g. ordered from a vendor, external/internal transfer, etc.) will now be listed here using the downloadable Rodent Strains: Not Bred In-House form and attached to this section.
Databases Searched Page: Added resources including librarian contact info, general database links, and IACUC-specific search hedges and now includes a link to IACUC Document 109, which defines pain categories and database search requirements.
