Andrew Mehring
Dr. Mehring studies greenhouse gas emissions and uptake in natural, agricultural, and urban ecosystems using flux chambers and eddy covariance, in an effort to maximize the potential of these systems to store carbon. He also conducts related research on organic matter and nutrient cycling in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, the effects of urban land use on aquatic and terrestrial invertebrate communities, and the use of natural treatment systems (i.e., raingardens, biofilters, constructed wetlands) to restore the health of urban soils and aquatic ecosystems.
