Avery Kolers
Dr. Kolers is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Louisville, and also teaches in the interdisciplinary programs in Health Care Ethics and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He completed his PhD at the University of Arizona in 2000. At UofL he regularly teaches courses on Environmental Ethics and is a longstanding member of the Sustainability Council. He has published two books: Land, Conflict, and Justice: A Political Theory of Territory (Cambridge 2009), and A Moral Theory of Solidarity (Oxford 2016). Some relevant articles include “Floating Provisos and Sinking Islands” (Journal of Applied Philosophy 2012); “Justice, Territory, and Natural Resources” (Political Studies 2012); “Resilience as a Political Ideal” (Ethics, Policy, and Environment 2015); and “Solidarity as Environmental Justice in Brownfields Remediation” (CRISPP 2018). He has published articles on climate and environmental justice in LEO Weekly and the Louisville Courier-Journal.
