Don Yow
Dr. Don Yow is a geographer and climatologist who serves as a Professor in the Department of Physics, Geosciences, and Astronomy at Eastern Kentucky University. With expertise in physical geography and human-environment interactions, Dr. Yow's academic interests also extend to ecology, reflecting his passion for gardening and native plant conservation. Since joining EKU in 2003, Dr. Yow has taught more than 25 courses in Geography and Geology, showcasing his diverse expertise and commitment to education. Before his tenure at EKU, he worked as a service climatologist at the Southeast Regional Climate Center, where he contributed to applied climatological research and public outreach initiatives. Dr. Yow earned a BS in Geography from the University of Florida, as well as a MS and a PhD in Geography from the University of South Carolina. His current professional focus centers on developing strategies for climate change adaptation and building resilience to environmental challenges.
