Yoko Kusunose
Dr. Kusunose received her Ph.D. in agricultural economics from the University of California-Davis. Her expertise is household-level (micro) development economics, but her interests encompass all aspects of food, farming, and agricultural decision making. Her research in Kenya, Zambia, Burkina Faso, and Morocco asks how to increase the agricultural productivity, income, and the economic resilience of smallholder households. Her research in the United States centers on how farmers deal with risk and uncertainty in their management decisions. An example of such research is how farmers may or may not adapt to climate change. She is passionate about food in general, and relishes teaching courses on the economics and policies surrounding food and agriculture.
