New Features
Extract Text or Handwriting from Images: You can now upload an image of your handwritten lab notes and transform them into searchable text.
- Files are sent for text extraction and are automatically deleted from the third-party server after 10 minutes.
- The servers where the image files are temporarily sent for text extraction are located in the US.
- This tool uses AI to extract and format (when possible) but does not train on any documents uploaded via the API.
- None of the data is saved on the partner servers, nor are they used for training.
- After the extracted text is saved in the ERN, users have the option to further format the text.
- Supports common image file types (PNG, JPG, TIFF) and PDFs.
- Provides handwriting recognition and text extraction
- Detects table structure and extracts data
- The extracted text and the original uploaded file are retained for data provenance.
Creating and Managing Aliquots: You can now create multiple aliquots at the same time under a single item. Items with aliquots are displayed as a single line item in Inventory search results, but represent multiple discrete items with independent quantities and item histories.
Forms and Form Center: Forms allow labs to standardize data collection and export an aggregated report across all the notebooks in the lab.
Account Administrator Role: Notebook Owner can clearly establish an Account Administrator who is responsible for all notebooks in the lab. The Account Administrator can manage all permissions on behalf of the Notebook Owner and run the day-to-day operations across the notebooks.
Account Manager and Additional Permission Controls: The Notebook Owner and Account Administrator can quickly invite internal and external team members to multiple notebooks and manage read-only access in one place.
Inventory List: Seamlessly integrate and track materials from LabArchives Inventory in LabArchives Notebook. Easily link experiments to the reagents, samples, and freezer boxes that are used and pull in details like Lot Number, Catalog Number, and expiration date.

New to LabArchives? This training is an essential starting point! This is a comprehensive overview of the features available in LabArchives Electronic Lab Notebook, LabArchives Inventory and LabArchives Scheduler. Learn how to set up your account, create notebooks, update Inventory Items, reserve Scheduler Resources, and collaborate with your team.
Perfect for new users, this session will equip you with the foundational skills to streamline your research workflows with LabArchives.
Improve Research Data Management and Reproducibility with the LabArchives ELN
Learn how the various tools in LabArchives ELN can support good data management and enhance collaboration. Topics will include creating a notebook, setting up notebook structure, adding data, managing permissions in the notebook and complying with data management and sharing plans.
