Kudos to Mike for receiving an impressive impact score—a 16 on his K01 application!  His application, “Quantifying the Mechanism and Impact of Hip Extensor Muscle Dysfunction During Aerobic Exercise in Hip Osteoarthritis” utilizes advanced biomechanical analyses and quantitative MRI to understand the link between muscle composition and biomechanical changes that occur during aerobic exercise in patients with hip osteoarthritis. While he anticipates that such a score will be fundable, after NIH council convenes in January, he’ll learn more.  Since the start of RSP, Mike has also published a manuscript in the Journal of Applied Biomechanics, presented at a conference, and received extensive funding from the Marfan Foundation to support his research on hip joint function and health in patients with Marfan Syndrome.
