To affirm our commitment to responsible conduct of research and scholarly activity, UK is now requiring that everyone who is eligible to conduct research complete the online RCR course and in-person RCR training/discussion session.
The Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) in-person training/discussion component is to be completed by attending a one-hour session on campus or via Zoom if you are online or remote. Please contact your designated college/department trainer for available sessions. [HTML]
The RCR in-person training/discussion session is the second component of the RCR training requirement. You will attend a session once every two years, thereafter.* (The RCR in-person training/discussion session does not count towards the refresher stage of the RCR online course.)
*Graduate students with no research (ex. not paid on grant, not listed on sponsored project or research protocol) are only required to complete the online RCR course Basic stage and the RCR In-Person training/discussion component one time.
Once you have attended an RCR In-Person Training/Discussion session, please give up to 5 business days for the attendance to be processed. You will receive an email with links to your certificate, resources, and a post-training survey once your attendance has been processed. If you have not received your certificate within one business week, please check for an email from RCR@uky.edu in your junk email box or contact us. You do not need to send your certificate to us, your training records will update automatically.
Training/Discussion Sessions
Please refer to your College/Department Trainer for their schedule of sessions. [HTML]
The RCR In-Person Training sessions have limited seating. Before registering for a session please:
- Check your calendar to make sure you are free at the offered time
- Ensure that you can participate for the entire hour
It is recommended that you add the session to your calendar so that you don’t double-book appointments.
All RCR in-person training sessions are held on campus unless designated as a Zoom session. If you sign up for a Zoom session, the training may be titled "RCR In-Person Training" in your meeting invitation or email, but will be facilitated via Zoom. This is not considered the online RCR course.
*Participants will need to have video and voice capabilities for all Zoom sessions to participate in the group interaction. You must attend the full one-hour session for credit.
