Under the oversight of the Associate Vice President for Research Integrity, SECURE is responsible for the University of Kentucky’s compliance for research projects in the areas of export controls, research security, conflict of interest and conflict of commitment.

Foreign Experts Programs and International Research Collaborations

There has been a recent increase in the number of UK researchers receiving requests to participate in “Foreign Experts Programs.” These invitations often begin with a foreign researcher reaching out to a UK researcher and asking them to collaborate on a research proposal sponsored by the foreign government.

Research Security Training Requirements for NIH

Dec. 2, 2025, NIH put out a notice on NIH implementation of the Research Security Training (RST) requirements outlined in the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. Each covered individual listed on an NIH grant application must certify that they have completed RST within 12 months of the date of application submission.
