CCTS Offers New Mentor Training

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science now offers mentor training using the CIMER Entering Mentoring Curriculum. The program is for UK faculty with mentees in health or biomedical fields, and it meets the requirements for serving as a mentor on an NIH-funded training grant. This interactive, in-person training is offered four times a year at no cost.  More information here.

CCTS Spring Conference | abstracts due Feb. 5, mentor award nominations due Feb. 10

April 1, 2025, hundreds of researchers, clinicians, staff, students and community members will share research around the theme “Pioneering Pathways: Innovative Trial Design in Translational Science.”  The 20th Annual CCTS Conference also hosts Research Days for the colleges of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Institute for Biomedical Informatics, and the Department of Internal Medicine. 

NCATS Clinical & Translational Science Award Request for Pilot Funding Applications due 1/21/25

Eight institutions funded by the NCATS Clinical & Translational Science Award (CTSA) have joined together to form the Consortium of Rural States (CORES): The University of Utah Health, the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Frontiers Clinical and Translational Science Institute, University of Kentucky, the Translational Research Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the University of Iowa, Dartmouth College, and Penn State University.

UK ASCEND | Applications due Aug 23

UK ASCEND (Achieving Success in Community-Engaged research to elimiNate Disparities) is requesting applications from UK postdoctoral fellows/scholars to apply for pilot research funds to conduct Community-Engaged Research (CER) studies. The ASCEND Postdoctoral CER Pilot will provide pilot awards of up to $25,000 for 12 months.

ATRN 2024 Annual Health Summit | Registration Open

The Appalachian Translational Research Network (ATRN) is a collaborative of academic medical institutions, including the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Science, working to address the significant health challenges and disparities specific to Appalachia. The summit is Sept. 30 to Oct. 1 at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, VA.

TikTok and UK Researcher Impact

On June 2, 2023, the federal government issued an interim Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 52.204-27 Prohibition on a ByteDance Covered Application) prohibiting the use of TikTok or other ByteDance applications on information technology used in the performance of a federal contract.

CCTS KL2 Career Development Program

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) at the University of Kentucky has funds available through an NIH CTSA KL2 award to support junior faculty committed to developing academic careers focused on clinical and/or translational research/science. Junior faculty from any college at the University of Kentucky are eligible to apply. Applications from underrepresented minorities and those with disabilities and/or having disadvantaged backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.
