The Summer HealthCare Experience (SHE) in Oncology program, is aimed at empowering high school girls throughout Kentucky to learn more about the field of cancer medicine and research. The inaugural program will be held July 12-23 and will be virtual due to the ongoing pandemic.
Many undergraduates participate in research alongside UK’s world-class faculty. This high impact learning experience allows undergraduates to explore career options and set themselves apart for graduate or professional school or employment.
The STEM Through Authentic Research and Training (START) program at UK is creating a unique pipeline to promote careers for underrepresented populations, first-generation college students, and girls and women in STEM. START is funded by a five-year, $1.3 million Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.
