Resilience in Research
In this time of significant change on the federal level, we must continue to lean into our unwavering purpose — to improve lives across Kentucky and our nation. Despite uncertainty, we will continue to advance our discoveries, seek answers to critical questions, and improve the quality of life in the communities we proudly serve.
We see the impact of our work in the fundamental discoveries happening in our labs that change the way we understand the challenges facing the Commonwealth. We see it in innovations that become new therapies and treatments for patients across UK HealthCare. We see it in spin off companies that are born from ideas, fostered by collaborations with colleagues across disciplines, and molded into products and devices that change the way we interact with our world. We create new knowledge and train the next generation of investigators.
As researchers at a public university, we are privileged to use the funding we receive from federal agencies to do impactful work that changes lives. Our shared work is valuable and important. It comes with many challenges, but I know you will rise to the challenge because you have proven time and again that resilience is the hallmark of this community of researchers. We will get through this together.
We are continuing to monitor and assess the impact of the federal changes. We work daily with our government relations team to tell the stories of the critical impact of your work to our federal delegation. In the meantime, we recognize the fear we and our colleagues across the country are feeling, but we urge you to join us in fighting that fear by continuing the important work in which you are all engaged.
We welcome your questions at vpr@uky.edu. And, if you receive any directives or requests from federal agencies, please email ospa@uky.edu and vpr@uky.edu. We will assist you in responding.
Please continue to visit our website (2025 Federal Changes) for research-specific announcements, and the university’s website (Monitoring Federal Changes 2025) for broader-reaching information on federal actions.
Thank you for your commitment to our university’s research mission, and your commitment to one another as we navigate this challenging time together.
