NIH Requires New Common Forms for Biosketch and Other Support Beginning January 25, 2026

Beginning with applications and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) due on or after January 25, 2026, National Institutes of Health (NIH) will require use of the new Common Forms for Biosketch and Current & Pending Support documents.

These changes align NIH with the federal government-wide effort to standardize disclosure forms and use of the Common Forms across the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Department of Energy (DOE). The new digitally certified Common Forms must be generated exclusively through SciENcv and will be accompanied by a required NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement.

All senior/key personnel must:

  • Establish an ORCID iD linked to their eRA Commons profile.
  • Generate and personally certify their Biosketch and Other Support forms in SciENcv. Creation of the biosketch in SciENcv may be done by a delegate.
  • Complete new certification requirements, including confirming they are not participants in a Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program (MFTRP).

NIH will begin enforcing the new forms through system validations. Incorrect or uncertified forms will first trigger warnings and, beginning February 6, 2026, will block submission entirely. Begin preparing now by updating ORCID profiles, reviewing SciENcv templates, ensuring familiarity with new disclosure requirements, and completing the forms.
