Coffee Science Unfiltered Session 2: So, What Does Coffee Quality Have to Do With Equity?

Dr. David Gonthier, Director of the UK Coffee Lab, a Coffee Q-Grader and Associate Professor at the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment will share insights from his coffee farming adventures in Honduras and his exploration of the specialty coffee market. He will guide attendees through a brief coffee tasting experience and discuss whether specialty coffee provides opportunities and equity to producers within the global coffee trade.

Dr. Rollie G. Mills, co-founder of Funky Rooster Coffee, will take you beyond the basics of coffee roasting and brewing. Dr. Mills, an expert in water filtration and avid coffee enthusiast, will explore how scientific and engineering principles are key to making the perfect cup. From understanding the impact of ion concentration in water to highlighting innovative scientific projects in the coffee industry, this session will deepen your appreciation for the science behind every sip.
