Bruker Dektak XT Surface Profiler

The new Bruker Dektak XT surface profiler is now available for use in the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering.  The profiler quickly measures step heights and surface roughness up to 1 mm high over distances up to 50 mm.   The built-in microscope allows alignment to specific features or areas of interest.  In addition, the profiler features the 2D stress measurement option for determining thin-film stress and the low force measurement option for accurately characterizing soft samples without damage.   The instrument is located in room A368 of the

New Acting Vice President for Research

On September 12, 2024, Ilhem Messaoudi was announced as the Acting Vice President for Research. Dr. Messaoudi joined UK in 2021 as a professor and chair of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics in the UK College of Medicine. Her research interests include maternal and child health, substance use disorders, immunology and aging.

Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs (FTRPs) Policy

As required by federal law, UK is issuing a new policy (effective Aug 9, 2024) concerning participation in foreign talent recruitment programs (FTRPs) per the CHIPS and Science Act.

Updated OSPA Staff Assignments

The Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (OSPA) has transitioned to its new organizational structure for proposal and award services that was recommended by Project GATeWAY. Research Administrators are now focused on providing pre-award or post-award support and services based on their constituency (college or other unit) assignment.
