Federal Stop Work Orders & Certificates of Confidentiality (CoC)

Automatic Certificates of Confidentiality (CoCs) expire when federal funding ends, though protections for previously collected data remain. To continue data collection, a discretionary CoC is needed. The NIH application system for discretionary CoCs is unavailable until July 2025, however, the FDA continues to accept submissions. Investigators should update consent materials and security plans as needed.
