Cellular Genomics and Imaging Core
I am pleased to announce the addition of a new core facility within the Office of the Vice President for Research: the Cellular Genomics and Imaging Core (CGI Core).
Formerly known as the Imaging Center and housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the CGI Core was established in 2017 in the Jacobs Science Building. It will retain its current location. The core provides researchers with access to cutting-edge microscopy instrumentation and specialized expertise not available elsewhere on campus, along with comprehensive single-cell and spatial transcriptomics and multiomics services.
Under the leadership of Dr. Doug Harrison, the CGI Core offers advanced imaging technologies, such as light sheet microscopy, that enable researchers to observe tissues and cells over time. Researchers will benefit not only from access to highly specialized instrumentation but also from expert guidance and training provided by the core’s experienced staff, including a full-time manager with extensive expertise in biological imaging.
The CGI Core provides single-cell and spatial transcriptomics services primarily using the industry-leading assays offered by 10x Genomics. The Core has utilized these tools in collaboration with dozens of investigators at UK and other institutions to analyze hundreds of samples in a wide variety of organisms. Through ongoing training with 10x Genomics application specialists, the CGI Core remains at the forefront of these emerging technologies, ensuring researchers have access to the latest analytical capabilities.
