Research Advancing Kentucky: Anthony’s boundary-pushing work in materials
Researchers at the University of Kentucky play a pivotal role in finding solutions to meet the needs of the Commonwealth and the nation.
Much of that work to advance science is done with funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
John Anthony, Ph.D., is the associate director of the UK Center for Applied Energy Research and the C. W. Hammond Professor of Chemistry in the UK College of Arts and Sciences.
He has had longstanding support from all three agencies. His research advances electronics and energy technologies. Anthony also has collaborative projects focused on incorporating machine learning processes into materials development, and to simplify quantum computing systems.
“Funding from the NSF, DOD and DOE allows researchers at UK to continue pushing the boundaries of materials science and influencing real-world applications,” said Anthony. “Not just for the people of the Commonwealth, but around the world.”
Anthony and other members of our research community shared the importance of this federally funded research at UK. Learn more about the impactful work done in this video series from Research Communications.
