A local valedictorian from Jackson County, Vanessa attended Eastern Kentucky University and graduated with a BS in Earth Science Education, Biology Teaching minor. She obtained Laboratory Animal Technologist certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), while working with UK Research in the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources. Vanessa is certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and Teaching English to Young Learners. She most recently served as IACUC & Facility Manager for the Department of Research & Development at the Lexington VA Health Care System. She maintains an online ESL teaching position. She seeks to acquire her Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA) certification from Public Responsibility in Medicine & Research (PRIM&R).
