Comment on NIH publication cost options by Sept 15

On July 8, 2025, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced an intent to establish new policies limiting allowable publication costs. 

NIH is currently taking comment on publication costs with multiple proposed options: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-25-138.html. 

These proposed options range from disallowing all publication costs to limits on a per publication basis or limit on total amount of the award that can be spent on these costs.

The notice linked above includes how to submit comments to NIH. Deadline for comments is September 15, 2025.
