Update on Access Issues Affecting the UK Research Website

Some website visitors are experiencing an issue affecting access to the https://research.uky.edu website.

What’s happening:
Website visitors may experience error messages when utilizing older links beginning with “www.” while attempting to access pages on research.uky.edu.

Why this is occurring:
When the UK Research website was updated last year, our web address was updated to https://research.uky.edu. For a time, we were able to redirect traffic from the old “www” links to the new website. We are no longer able to renew the security certificate previously allowing browsers to automatically redirect this traffic. The UK Web Development team is actively working on a solution to reduce error messages and direct visitors to our website.

What you can do:

• Remove “www” from the web address before navigating to the site and update any bookmarked or saved links.
• If you are a web developer managing a non-Research-hosted site, please update any affected links accordingly with the correct URL.
• If you manage documents that may include links to the UK Research website, please review them for accuracy and update with the correct URL.
