2026 UNITE Research Showcase

UNITE is excited to host the 2026 UNITE Research Showcase on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center. The UNITE Research Priority Area is a university-wide initiative designed to bring together groups of investigators, trainees and colleges with a focus on impactful research. Through the support of the UK Office of the Vice President for Research, the RPA hosts a dynamic showcase to elevate research vital to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

"Disability bioethics" presenter: Dr. Rosemarie Garland-Thomson Rosemarie Garland-Thomson is professor emerita of English and bioethics at Emory University. She works in disability culture, bioethics, and health humanities. She is a Hastings Center Senior Advisor and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is co-editor of About Us: Essays from the New York Times about Disability by People with Disabilities and author of Staring: How We Look, and several other books.

Markey Research Seminars: Lorna McNeill

The UK Markey Cancer Center sponsors the Markey Research Seminar, a weekly, continuing-education series, on Wednesdays from Noon–12:50 p.m. Open to all, these sessions welcome internal and external cancer researchers who share their expertise and highlight their work and research. University of Kentucky community members can sign up to receive notices of upcoming speakers and lecture titles by contacting Assistant Director for Research Administration Danielle Story, MBA, and requesting to be added to the Markey Interest listserv.
