The Chellgren Center for Undergraduate Excellence at the University of Kentucky will give students an opportunity to learn about a unique educational program next week.

Designed for second-year students, the Chellgren Student Fellows Program (also known as the Chellows program) provides experiences that go beyond the classroom. The open house and information session will help students learn more about the program, which cultivates extraordinary academic achievement among some of UK’s best students. The fellows prepare for nationally competitive scholarship opportunities and conduct academic research with faculty from across campus.

“Through the Chellgren Student Fellow’s Program, we aim to provide UK students with an educational experience that assists students in realizing their highest academic potential, inspires progressive reform and innovation in learning, and fosters creative and productive collaborations across students from different backgrounds,” said Isabel C. Escobar, Ph.D., Chellgren Endowed Chair and professor of engineering.

There will be two opportunities for students to learn more about the Chellows program: at an open house, 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Room 224 Funkhouser Building, and at an information session later that day, 5-6 p.m. in Room 200 Funkhouser. Register for the information session online by Sunday, Feb. 1. Seating is limited. Snacks will be provided at both events. Students are encouraged to attend one of these sessions to learn more about the program and the new application process.
