CITI Research Security Training due Oct 1

To comply with National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 and the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, all investigators currently engaged in research on a federally funded award or submitting a federally funded proposal are required to complete research security training by October 1, 2025.

NSF Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Certification

The CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 prohibits participation in malign foreign talent recruitment programs while receiving federal funding. To confirm compliance with this requirement, NSF requires each PI certify their lack of participation in such a program.

Federal Stop Work Orders & Certificates of Confidentiality (CoC)

Automatic Certificates of Confidentiality (CoCs) expire when federal funding ends, though protections for previously collected data remain. To continue data collection, a discretionary CoC is needed. The NIH application system for discretionary CoCs is unavailable until July 2025, however, the FDA continues to accept submissions. Investigators should update consent materials and security plans as needed.

DoD 2025 Decision Matrix Update

The Department of Defense (DoD) published the 2025 Decision Matrix to Inform Fundamental Research Risk Decisions, effective for all proposals submitted on or after May 9, 2025.
