The Markesbery Symposium, named in honor and memory of the late William R. CRSO's OnCore Office Hours

2024 Kentucky Water Resources Annual Symposium

The day-long event combines platform and poster presentations that allow attendees to hear the latest in water research, practice, and education. Presenters include recipients of the USGS 104(b) student research enhancement grants funded through the Institute. During the awards luncheon, KWRI will present KWRI’s annual awards acknowledging outstanding contributions in the areas of Water Resources Research, Water Resources Practice, and Water Quality.

State of the First Amendment Address

Michael (“Mike”) Abate — preeminent First Amendment advocate, defender of government transparency and litigator with Kaplan, Johnson, Abate & Bird in Louisville — will deliver the State of the First Amendment Address, 5 p.m. Sept. 26. The address is titled “The Rapidly Evolving First Amendment: Free Speech, Free Exercise and the Establishment Clause in the Roberts Court Era.” The James Madison Award presentation will follow. The event is free to the public and the University of Kentucky community at the Rosenberg College of Law’s Grand Courtroom.

Intro to R Workshop

Join us for the first installment of the R Workshop Series, where you will learn the basics of R and RStudio. You will learn how to install and run packages, do basic arithmetic, create and name objects, work with functions, create and subset vectors, and much more. No previous experience with R or coding needed to participate in this workshop.
