This workshop equips participants with key methods for developing precise questions and search terms. Attendees will learn practical techniques to enhance information retrieval to boost information retrieval, sharpen research accuracy, and achieve better outcomes when searching for literature. AI tools will be discussed.

Introduction to the Training Innovation Project (TIP)

Join Kathy Sheppard-Jones and Beth Potter for a 45-minute virtual introduction to TIP and learn how we’re building practical, high-impact training, tools, and skill-building strategies for vocational rehabilitation professionals.   Attendees will discover how TIP is designed to equip vocational rehabilitation professionals with the necessary training, tools, and skills to enhance their service to people with disabilities. The project also focuses on supporting professionals in their efforts to engage effectively with employers.

Improve Research Data Management and Reproducibility with Electronic Research Notebooks (LabArchives)

Learn how the various tools in the ERN app can support good data management and sharing. Topics will include naming the notebook, setting up notebook structure, complying with your data management and sharing plan, and managing permissions in the notebook.

Lecture: Imagining Infinite Energy: The Ethics of Fossil-Fuel & Renewable Energy

Although energy is abundant in nature only a very small amount of it is harnessed to power human societies. The availability of this energy has had enormous impact on culture and politics. But if we imagine accessing the infinite energy provided by the sun or clean fusion power, it becomes clear that a just transition from fossil-fuel to renewable energy cannot focus on availability and access alone. Lithium mining for batteries, land grabs for solar and wind fields, transition justice for coal communities, and the growth of data centers are all serious ethical challenges to overcome.

UK x Microsoft: CATS AI in Action

Artificial intelligence (AI) programs, partnerships and possibilities will take center stage during a campus AI showcase on Thursday, Feb. 26. The event — UK x Microsoft: CATS AI in Action — is free and open to all faculty, staff and students as well as community members. It will feature officials from both Microsoft and the University of Kentucky in a day of exploration and discovery at the Gatton Student Center. UK x Microsoft: CATS AI in Action will begin at 10 a.m. with a speaking program in Ballroom A at the Gatton Student Center.
