AG is for All Conference 2024

The University of Kentucky, Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environmentin collaboration with our Center for Student Success, have partnered together to host the 3rd Annual Ag is for All Conference. The conference is open to all high school students across the Commonwealth with a vested interest in being a prospective student at Martin-Gatton CAFE. This event will help students apply to college – specifically at Martin-Gatton CAFE – apply for and access scholarships, complete FAFSA forms and encourage faculty and student engagement.

Data Cleaning in R: Welcome to the Tidyverse

Join us for the second installment of the R Workshop Series, where the focus will be on cleaning data in R. You will learn how to import data, extract information from data frames/tibbles, subset data, how to use factors, format dates, and more. Participation in the first installment of the R Workshop Series, Intro to R, or a working knowledge of R/RStudio is highly recommended.

2024 Lab Safety Fair

University of Kentucky’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Division will present the 2024 Laboratory Safety Fair featuring food, fun, and prizes. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, in the atrium of the Jacobs Science Building located at 305 Huguelet Drive. UK faculty, staff, and students will have the opportunity to engage with EH&S personnel in interesting and informative activities and demonstrations.

Opportunities for Disabled Researchers and Scholars

This panel discussion focuses on the growing movement to include members of the disability community in all aspects of research. The principles of Participatory Action Research will be reviewed as well as how they apply to disability pride and self-determination. Panelists will share their experiences and perspectives as researchers with lived experience with disability.

AHRQ Grant Review Process Demystified

   The Center for Health Services Research presents a Zoom seminar featuring Lars E. Peterson, MD, PhD, Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and Senior Physician Scientist at the American Board of Family Medicine.        Lars Peterson is Chairperson of the Healthcare Effectiveness and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Study Section for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). He will discuss AHRQ research interests and    review processes.    

Leveraging the Power of Google Earth Pro for Instructors

Google Earth Pro offers basic mapmaking and cartographic tools without the large learning curve associated with more advanced geospatial software. This workshop will cover simple spatial data creation, spatial analysis, and basic principles of cartography with a focus on how the tool could be incorporated into the classroom.     Presenter: Sarah Watson, Maps & Geospatial Services Manager
